Danbury School Employee & Former Ridgefield Beautician, Simone Simon has died

Simone (Taylor) Simon, 74, of Danbury, wife of Edward D. Simon, Jr., died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Danbury Hospital shortly after her admission after being stricken ill at home of an apparent heart attack.

Mrs. Simon was born in Danbury, August 28, 1942, a daughter of the late Simon and Anna (Abdella) Taylor. She attended St. Peter School, Danbury High School and graduated from Americo School of Beauty of Danbury.

Mrs. Simon was employed by Village Beauty Salon of Ridgefield and later became a paraprofessional with the Danbury School system and Site Facilitator of the Afterschool Program at Broadview Middle School; positions she held for the past twenty plus years.

“Mone” as she was affectionately known by her family, friends and associates was active in the parish life of St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury and the National Apostolate of Maronites.

From her youth until this past week, she volunteered in serving on many committees which included in early years, C.Y.O. and later, the Ladies Guild where she served as a past president, the annual bazaar committee, St. Patrick’s Card Party committee, Bingo, the parish council, Mercy Meal Committee and the annual festival committee.

Mrs. Simon was the “rock” of her family and friends. She was always there to lend support and encouragement. A shoulder to lean on, a pair of hands to assist and a big heart full of compassion were her traits.

She loved the beach and the annual vacations on Cape Cod. Simone elected to find the simple pleasures of life and lived life to the fullest.

She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband of forty years, Mrs. Simon is survived by a son, Edward D. Simon III of Danbury; a brother, Simon “Sy” Taylor of Danbury; a sister, Karen Jennings of Danbury; her Godmother, Helen E, Moses of Danbury; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simon was predeceased by her sister, Donna (Taylor) Weis.

A concelebrated Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Most Rev. Bishop Robert J. Shaheen and the Rev. Naji J. Kiwan officiating.

Interment will be private and at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 4 PM to 8 PM at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Friends are asked to kindly omit flowers.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
