Richard J. O’Reilly, 76, of Danbury, brother of Adele C. Mikla, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Regional Hospice of Western CT Center for Comfort Care and Healing, Danbury.

Mr. O’Reilly was born in Brooklyn, NY, July 13, 1941, son of John and Adele (Lovatt) O’Reilly. He attended New York schools and was a N.Y. Corrections Officer retiring after thirty years of service and attaining the rank of Captain.

He has been a resident of a Danbury for the past twelve years.

In addition to his sister Adele C. Mikla and her husband, John of Danbury, Mr. O’Reilly is also survived by a son, Richard G. O’Reilly and his wife Lita and their daughter, Alexandra all of Long Island, NY; a daughter, Erin O’Reilly of Brooklyn, NY; nieces, Julie Kushion and her husband Cory, Kerry Henderson and her husband Belgrave, Megan Winter and her husband Daniel and grandnieces, Penelope and Sylvia Henderson and Sarah Winter.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:15 am in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 13 Pembroke Rd., Danbury with Father Ronald Hatton officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at St. Nicholas Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
