Savings Bank of Danbury 2015 Spirit of Giving Pay it Forward Program

As the Holiday season approaches, Savings Bank of Danbury is keeping with the spirit of the season by asking people to donate $50. And it’s on them.

From December 1st through December 18th 2015, Savings Bank of Danbury employees will place 50+ envelopes containing $50 each in various locations throughout the towns surrounding its 14 branches. The bank is encouraging those who find an envelope to share the money with a friend, organization or even a stranger who may benefit from it.

People should be on the lookout for envelopes with Savings Bank of Danbury’s logo on the front and a sticker saying “open me”. Envelopes will be left randomly at businesses, parks, libraries, schools, senior centers and other locations in the communities.

Each envelope will contain instructions to the finder to pay it forward by either donating the entire amount, or keeping half and donating half. The instructions also include a request to tell SBD how the finders gifted the cash via the banks Facebook page, or via email to social@sbdanbury.com. Individuals who share their story by December 31st will be entered into a drawing to have $250 donated to the charity of their choice.

“I expect there are going to be a lot of good stories,” said Kathleen Romagnano, President and CEO. “Giving back to the community is a core value of Savings Bank of Danbury and has always been the foundation of our organization".
