Danbury Public Schools welcome new principals

This fall Danbury School District welcomes four new principals: Dan Donovan, former principal of the Freshman Academy at Danbury High School, is now the principal at DHS following the retirement of Gary Bocaccio. An educator in the district since 1996, Donovan has launched many successful initiatives for students, including the Danbury Early College Opportunity (DECO) program.

Edie Thomas, former principal at Pembroke Elementary School, will now lead Broadview Middle School, taking over for Ed Robbs, who retired this year after 18 years as Broadview’s principal. Dawn Bartz, Global Studies theme coach at Westside Middle School Academy, will serve as interim principal at Shelter Rock Elementary School.

New to the district is Dr. Sharon Epple, who has been named principal of Pembroke. Epple has held principal positions most recently in the East Hartford Public Schools and previously in both Newtown and Brookfield public schools.
