State Police search Titicus Reservoir for missing Beech aircraft

UPDATE: 11/20: Following the discovery of aircraft debris located in the Titicus Reservoir, the investigation has been turned over to the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. Please note: they have updated the information. The aircraft was a Beech, not a Cessna as originally reported.

Danbury Airport reported that a 1971 Cessna lost contact with the airport at approximately 4:30 p.m yesterday & debris was found today in Titicus Reservoir 

On November 19, 2015 at approximately 8:30 p.m., New York State Police from Troop K were notified that a civilian aircraft was believed to have descended in the area of the Titicus Reservoir.
 
Danbury Airport reported that a 1971 Cessna lost contact with the airport at approximately 4:30 p.m. as it approached their runway.  The aircraft reportedly lost radar contact with the airport, placing the Cessna just south of the Titicus Reservoir.
 
On November 20, 2015, debris believed to be from the missing Cessna was located in the reservoir. Divers from the New York State Police and Department of Environmental Protection will be searching the reservoir as a part of this active investigation.
 
New York State Police were assisted by the Croton Falls Fire Department, Yorktown Heights Fire Department, Department of Environmental Protection, Civil Air Patrol, and State Police aviation.
