Danbury man charged with Reckless Endangerment following police pursuit

On December 12, 2016, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Adonis D. Castro-Espinal, age 22, of Danbury, Connecticut, for two counts of Reckless Endangerment, a Class D Felony.

On December 4, 2016, Troopers were assisting the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department with a pursuit that was traveling eastbound on State Route 6.  Officers remained on Route 6 and attempted to disable the vehicle the suspect was operating by deploying a tire deflation device.  As the fleeing vehicle approached, Castro-Espinal drove directly towards both Troopers at approximately 100 miles per hour nearly striking them.  Both Troopers were able to jump out of the way of the speeding vehicle and were not injured.

Castro-Espinal continued into the State of Connecticut where he subsequently stopped for Connecticut State Police on Interstate 84.  He was secured in a Connecticut jail as a fugitive from justice and awaited extradition.

On December 12, 2016, Castro-Espinal posted bail in Connecticut and turned himself in to SP Brewster.  He was arraigned in the Village of Brewster Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.

State Police were assisted by the Connecticut State Police, City of Danbury Police Department, the Town of Bethel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.
