Danbury Police Officer Arrested for Using Unnecessary Force

Connecticut State Police report that New Milford resident David Williams, a longtime Danbury police officer, has been arrested following an investigation into his alleged use of force against arrestee, 20-year-old Danbury resident, Pierre Elhayek which occurred on or about July 30, 2016.

Williams told police that the incident took place when he responded to Germantown Plaza for an "officer needs assistance" call. When he arrived on the scene, Williams saw fellow Officer Joe Pooler who had been badly beaten, according to Police.

A review of a "dashcam" video during the course of Elhayek prosecution revealed that the arrestee was restrained on the ground by other responding Danbury police officers when Officer David Williams walked up to Elhayek and kicked him in the head.

According to a press release Williams turned himself in to his own department after a warrant was issued for his arrest on this Breach of Peace charge.

He was arrested on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 and later released on a Written Promise to Appear. He is scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on February 9, 2017.
