WESTCONN PART OF STATEWIDE EFFORT
While many are already counting down to Superbowl Sunday, there's an event the Sunday before then, with higher stakes for high school students planning to attend college, being held at Western Connecticut State University (WestConn) on January 26th.
FIRST IN THE FAMILY TO ATTEND COLLEGE?
"College Goal Sunday" will take place on the campus of Western Connecticut State University on Sunday, January 26 (the Sunday before the Super Bowl), from 1-4PM.
This is a volunteer charitable effort specifically designed to assist low-income families and those who are the first in their families to attend college. Completing the appropriate forms are required to qualify for college financial aid nationwide.
FREE HELP ON FINANCIAL AID APPS
This assistance will be provided FREE, on the Midtown campus of WestConn, 181 White Street in Danbury. College-bound high school seniors and their families will receive assistance from financial aid professionals in completing the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form online. Check-in is at the Student Center Theater, in the Campus Center building, on the Midtown campus. .
Free parking is available in the parking garage directly across the street from the midtown campus.
This WestConn location on White Street is one of only 15 locations throughout the state sponsoring College Goal Sunday.
HELP SPEAKS TWO LANGUAGES
Each site will assist students in Spanish or English. Information about the benefits of attending college, student support services, areas of study and different degree programs also will be available.
