BEACH STICKERS
Darien resident 2024 beach permits are now on sale though the Parks and Recreation page of the Town website. The webpage includes all of the various categories for beach permits, so please make sure to read through to facilitate purchase.
Current 2023 permits are valid through May 31, 2024. Beach stickers are required for entry to Weed Beach. Stickers will be required to enter Pear Tree Point Beach beginning May 24th.
ADVENTURE DAY
Adventure Day at Selleck’s and Dunlap Woods returns on Sunday, May 19th. Tickets are available for purchase through the Parks and Recreation page on the Town website. Tickets cost $35 per car (up to 6 people).
The Darien Swap shop is currently scheduled to re-open on Thursday, May 2nd. The new hours will be 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (will be closed in the event of rain). Drop-offs are permitted until 1:00 PM, shopping until 2:00 PM. The hours are subject to change depending on the availability of volunteers and the weather. Please follow @DarienSwapShop and @DarienRecyclingCenter on Instagram for current hours and weather-related closings.
The Swap Shop takes usable items only - nothing broken, stained, chipped, cracked, or missing pieces. Appliances with Freon must be working and have the $15 sticker attached. No clothing, paint (a drop-off location for unused paint is located by the garbage receptacle – but scavenging is not permitted), or hazardous materials are allowed.
Furniture must be dropped off early in the day as it cannot be left outside and volunteers have limited ability to move and store it in the building. Large furniture must be pre-approved. Send a photo to swapshop@darienct.gov for approval before bringing your item to the Swap Shop. There are many non-profit organizations that take furniture.
The Swap Shop is run entirely by volunteers and a variety of talents are needed to ensure its successful operation. If you are interested in volunteering at the Swap Shop, please email swapshop@darienct.gov. The schedule is flexible and training will be provided. As little as a few hours a month would be helpful!
