Home Improvement Fraud Arrest

Darien, CT –Ralph Darinzo, 49 years old of 220 Long Ridge Rd. Stamford, Ct was arrested by the Darien Police Department on charges of two counts of Larceny in the first degree. Darinzo was arrested by warrant.
Darinzo, who is the owner of Ralph Darinzo Construction, was the focus of an investigation which began in January of 2011. The Darien Police received a complaint that Darinzo had started home improvements at a home, and had been paid up front by the homeowner to cover the initial costs to initiate the job. During the course of the project, Darinzo continued to ask the homeowner for payments, which he received, to pay the subcontractors hired to do work at the home. Despite being paid for the scheduled work, Darinzo failed to perform some of the work, and failed to pay the subcontractors. One subcontractor in particular was bilked out of thirty eight thousand dollars, and the complainant was bilked out of twenty eight thousand dollars, leading to the two charges of Larceny in the first degree.
Darinzo was arrested in Stamford on 2-8-13 for similar charges.
Darinzo was released after posting a fifty thousand dollar bond. His next court appearance is February 22nd, 2013 at Stamford Superior Court.
