Volunteers Needed for Connecticut Food Bank Miles For Meals 5K

June 5 Race Will Benefit Food Bank Programs and Services

Volunteers are needed for the Connecticut Food Bank Miles For Meals 5K Race set for Sunday, June 5, at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.

There are volunteer opportunities for adults and young adults who volunteer with their parent or guardian on race day with shifts starting at 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. All shifts run through the conclusion of the race at 11:00 a.m.

Volunteer roles include directing car parking; event registration and pre-registration, food/water distribution, staffing the finish line, staffing water stations on the course, split callers (announcing pace times to runners), on-course traffic control and on-course pointers.

“Volunteers power the work of the Connecticut Food Bank,” said Kim Damien, Connecticut Food Bank Volunteer Coordinator. “We could not fulfill our mission without that generous gift of time. We hope that many volunteers will step up to help on June 5.”

To volunteer, contact Kim Damien by email at kdamien@ctfoodbank.org.

The Connecticut Food Bank Miles For Meals 5K will feature a flat course traveling through Calf Pasture Beach and the scenic Norwalk waterfront. Packet pickup and race day registration is at 7:00 a.m. and race starting time is 8:30 a.m. The post-race party will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the awards ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group.

Runners interested in competing may register at www.ctfoodbank.org/5K. Entry fee is $30 per runner before May 11 and $32 per runner from May 11 through race day. The first 400 entrants will receive commemorative Tech T-shirts.
