New Canaan Community Foundation Awards Grant to Person-to-Person

$3,500 Supports P2P Campership Program

New Canaan Community Foundation has awarded a $3,500 grant to Person-to-Person in support of the P2P Campership Program.

Grant applications are reviewed carefully by the Community Foundation to ensure that funding supports high-quality, high-impact programs and initiatives. Through grants, the Foundation invests its donors’ contributions in the best organizations in the region that are providing a range of essential services.

As part of the Person-to-Person mission, P2P is dedicated to providing stability and support for its clients. The Campership Program positively impacts families that live at or below the poverty level. It provides an enriching summer experience that translates into better academic performance for children when they return to school in the fall. Because parents are able to continue working during the summer, the family's fragile financial stability is not jeopardized.

“Thanks to the generosity of the Foundation, even more elementary schoolchildren will enjoy a summer camp experience that is much more than playtime and picnics,” says P2P Executive Director Ceci Maher. “It is reading and day trips and seeing the world in a different way outside the classroom. We are very fortunate to have received this grant and we are most grateful to New Canaan Community Foundation for their support of this important program.”

Community Foundation President and CEO Cynthia Gorey said, “Our donors care about supporting young people across the region; this grant provides us an opportunity to help our elementary school neighbors enjoy an enriching summer program.”
