Author Jean Hanff Korelitz Speaks About “You Should Have Known” at Darien Library Oct. 7

Author Jean Hanff Korelitz will visit the Darien Library on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. to speak about her novel “You Should Have Known,” which “People” called “a consuming, expertly plotted thriller.” Books will be available for purchase at the event, and refreshments will be served.

Grace Reinhart Sachs is living the only life she ever wanted. She is a devoted wife and mother, pediatric oncologist at a major cancer hospital, and author of a book named (meta alert) “You Should Have Known.” Inspired by Grace’s dismay at the way women delude themselves, the book cautions said women to hear what the men in their lives are trying to tell them. But tragedy strikes in the weeks leading up to the book’s publication, leading Grace to discover she has failed to heed her own advice and forcing her to remap her life.

Born and raised in New York, Korelitz is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Clare College, Cambridge. She is the author of one book of poems (“The Properties of Breath”), four previous novels (“Admission,” “A Jury of Her Peers,” “The Sabbathday River” and “The White Rose”) and a novel for children (“Interference Powder”). Korelitz also runs BOOKTHEWRITER, a service that enables book groups in New York City to invite authors to participate in their discussions. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two children.

The Darien Library is located at 1441 Post Rd. in Darien. For more information, phone (203) 655-1234, or visit darienlibrary.org.
