DESCRIPTION: This is the best introduction to wolves for families with young children.  Kids will learn about the mythology surrounding wolves and the important role of wolves in the natural world. This is an exciting time for wolves, they're out searching for prey as their growing pups experience their first winter season.  Guests will visit Ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa, Nikai and Zephyr as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves.  Guests will enjoy hot beverages in our woodstove-heated classroom.  Please dress for COLD weather.  Pre-registration is required.    Information and registration are available at www.nywolf.org.

Winter offers families a unique opportunity to visit the wolves during their favorite time of year. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why this season is such a magical time for packs in North America.  Whether the wolves are living on the Arctic tundra or the high desert of the southwest, wolf families are out searching for prey as their maturing pups experience their first winter season.   Guests will visit Ambassador wolves  Atka, Alawa, Nikai, and Zephyr as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. Saving a Species – An Inside Look at the WCC’s Endangered Species Program

DESCRIPTION:  The Wolf Conservation Center participates in the Species Survival Plan (SSP) and Recovery Plan for two different kinds of wolves, both critically endangered: the Mexican gray wolf and the red wolf.  But what does this really mean?  Join us to learn what it takes to help save a species from the brink of extinction. Guests will get an inside look at the process of matching potential breeders, what criteria must be met to recommend wolves for release into the wild, the husbandry challenge of caring for animals that we rarely see and how it feels to help Mexican gray wolves and red wolves resume their rightful place in the wild.  Guests will visit the WCC's Ambassador wolves as well as the WCC’s critically endangered Mexican gray wolves and red wolves.  Each guest will receive an official 2014 Wolf Awareness Week poster! Wolf Tails for Kids - Mythology of a Predator

DESCRIPTION:   Get outside during the holidays at the Wolf Conservation Center!  Join the WCC for a mythology program discussing the relationship between the wolves and humans of the past.  Guests will be introduced to various wolf mythologies and then have a chance to create their own and share if desired. Then, guests will visit Ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa, Zephyr and Nikai as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves too. Don’t forget a camera! Join us for this special opportunity to photograph the WCC’s Ambassador wolves: Atka , Alawa, Nikai and Zephyr, in the warm glow of the sunset!  Guests will also be given access to photograph the WCC critically endangered Mexican wolves and red wolves too from vantage points not generally available during regular visits.
