Norwalk Arts Commission Hosts "Slow Art Day" Event April 11th

The Norwalk Arts Commission, in partnership with the Norwalk Transit District, is one of 168 organizations around the world participating in Slow Art Day on Saturday, April 11th from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Transit District Headquarters, 275 Wilson Ave. in Norwalk. WPA docents will guide participants as they spend time looking at the rarely seen small collection of paintings created by Arthur Gibson Hull. The event also includes an opportunity to discuss and share with others over a light lunch. The event is free but space is limited and advance registration is required by visiting this website:   http://norwalkctarts.eventbrite.com?s=36071516

According to the Slow Art Day website, the program has grown from 16 museums and galleries in 2009 to more than 160 worldwide in 2015.  Mystic Arts Center and the Mattatuck Museum are among the Connecticut organizations participating this year.  The mission of the all-volunteer event is “to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.”  As Henry David Thoreau said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”
