Summer Reading with the Darien Children's Library

Darien Children’s Library invites all kids aged birth to 12 to participate in this year’s Summer Reading Club, “Lights, Camera, Action!” Registration for the Summer Reading Club opens on Monday, June 8.

The Library offers two Summer Reading options for children: one for pre-readers and one for solo readers. Pre-readers aged 5 and under are welcome to join the Read-to-Me Club and for every ten books they read with a grown-up they will receive a free book (up to three). Independent readers up to age 12 are cordially invited to join the Summer Reading Club. Participants in the Summer Reading Club will receive a Reading Log to record their minutes spent reading over the summer, and every five hours of reading will earn them a Raffle Ticket for the Grand Prize Raffle. Just for registering to participate in either Summer Reading Club, all children will receive a brand-new free book.

Latin Grammy-nominated musician Mister G will perform at the Library’s Summer Reading Kick-Off Concert for ages 2 to 7 on Friday, June 19 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. The Library’s “Finale Party on the Red Carpet” for the Summer Reading Club is slated for Monday, August 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Summer Reading Club participants are invited to the Library for live music, raffle prizes, food, and photo-ops. The winner of the Grand Prize Raffle will be announced. Registration for this very special event will begin Monday, August 3.

Additionally, readers may also participate in weekly Creative Challenges on the Library’s website to win prizes. New Challenges will be posted every Monday starting June 8 and run through Monday, August 10.
