A song unleashes its power and who knows where it’ll go? Songs fuel desire, inspire hope, break hearts, rock worlds, unite people, shake booties, turn blahs into blues, and sometimes make us feel as goood as James Brown. All in a mere few minutes. Award Winning Musician Kevin Briody will teach you how to structure songs, create “hooks,” craft lyrics, manipulate melody, rhythm and harmony, merge words with music, and write toward genre. Whether you favor pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, country, music, lyrics, or both, he’ll show you how to write songs that soar! Kevin’s classes meet on Thursdays from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., September 10 – October 29.
Stand-up Comedy Workshop with Christine O’Leary - Have you been told you're funny? Do you steal the show at parties? Award winning comedienne Christine O'Leary will share her secrets for how to make people laugh and teach you how to take your humor to the stage in this 8 week class. The class meets on Mondays from 7 – 9 p.m. September 12 – October 26. The class will take their new comedy routines to the live Comedy Graduation Showcase on Sunday, November 1, at 10 a.m. Sign up now – this class fills up quickly!
Katie Torpey returns with her 8-week TV screenwriting class for adults that will focus on how to create, develop, and write an original TV show. Students will learn how to develop their TV show idea, create a series bible as well as write the pilot (1st) episode of the series. During the course of the class, students will focus on how to develop a solid plot, structure the series so it has longevity, capture the theme of the show and create complex characters that audiences will love and be compelled to follow. Students will also study great TV shows from over the years so they can understand why they were successful. The objective of this course is to help students create, develop and write original TV shows that they could potentially sell to Hollywood! This popular class meets on Wednesdays from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. October 7 – November 25.
