Congratulate our DCC 2015 Scholarship Award Winners!!

As many of you know, DCC raises money throughout the year (primarily through the annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction) to fund our scholarship awards progam. The DCC scholarships are awarded through the Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation.

One award is given to a Darien High School Senior and is chosen based on Merit.

Another Merit Award is given to a DCC Member's, or the employee's child of a DCC member.

The DCC Board of Directors and the Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation are very pleased to award these scholarships to Peter Grant and Taylor Hart. (Please see profiles in this message)

Thank you to all the Chamber Members that help make this happen through your participation and generosity. It makes a difference!

Peter Grant

I recently graduated from DHS and this past spring,  interned at the Darien Nature Center. I will be attending Southern Connecticut State University next year and plan on majoring in marketing and finance. While at Darien High School, I participated in sports and clubs. I was a defensive linebacker for the DHS football team and also won the FCIAC championships. I played ice hockey from 9th grade until 11th grade, and I also played rugby for my senior year. Along with sports, I participated in clubs at the high school. I was a member of Invisible Children, which had food drives, clothing drives, and bake sales to raise money for kids in other countries. I was also a member of the DECA Business club, within this club we learned about business and also competed against other schools. Outside of Darien High School, I am involved in the Darien Little League Challenger Team. The Challenger Team members play baseball with special needs children every Saturday. Lastly; I am part of a community service group called the Darien YMCA "Y" Cares Club. This club is run through the Darien YMCA and we make bagged lunches, have food drives/clothing drives, and visit at the Senior Center. I look forward to going off to school next year and finding similar ways to donate my time to community service.
