Darien Kids Give Back to Those in Need

Earlier today the Darien YMCA gave a shout out to the youngsters on the YMCA's Gymnastics Team who collected food donations last Saturday.

The charitable group of youths asked shoppers entering Stop & Shop if they could spare to donate some items to the charity Person 2 Person, a local Darien charity to provides the basic essentials to those without. Within two short hours the group had collected a large amount of donated goods (see picture).

The Darien YMCA counted and totaled the items and listed a description on their Facebook page:

Way to give back, Darien Gymnastics Team! In just 2 hours on Saturday, they did a tumbling demonstration in front of Stop & Shop and raised the following for Person 2 Person: 11 Jars Jelly, 24 Jars Peanut Butter, 17 Cans of Soup, 37 Cans of Tuna, 12 Boxes of Crackers, 13 Bags of Rice, 8 Boxes of Rice, 31 Jars of Tomato Sauce, 8 Cans of Fruit, 24 Boxes of Pasta, 24 Boxes of Cereal, 18 Boxes of Oatmeal, 8 Packages of Cookies, 53 Cans of Vegetables, 2 Boxes Parmalat Milk, and 4 Containers of Juice!

The kids learned first hand what it means to give back to those who are not as fortunate. Way to go!
