Chelsea Piers Soccer Club Accepted as New York Soccer Club Affiliate

New York Soccer Club (NYSC) is pleased to announce its affiliation with Chelsea Piers Soccer Club (CPSC). NYSC has become the leading soccer program for boys and girls in Southern New York and Western Connecticut, with National Premier League (NPL) teams, US Soccer Development Academy status in four boys' age groups (U12, U13, U14, and U15), and Development Academy status in all girls' age groups (U14, U15, U16/U17, and U18/U19).

Earlier this month, NYSC partnered with Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) to form Sky Blue - NYSC. US Soccer recently awarded Sky Blue - NYSC with Development Academy status for the entire girls program.

“We understand the importance of a clear pathway to collegiate and professional level soccer and are very happy to be part of an organization that can assist players on their journey,” commented David Flower, Director of Coaching, Chelsea Piers Connecticut Soccer Club. “After meeting with NYSC it was clear that the developmental focus and emphasis on quality training aligns with our philosophy and goals for our players. We started the soccer program at Chelsea Piers in 2013 in the hopes of developing a Development Academy path for our players. Achieving this with NYSC after only four years is a testament to US Soccer’s belief in our coaching, training and performance the past few years.”

CPSC is a registered US Club Soccer member and will have teams competing in the Connecticut Club Soccer League (CCSL), New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL), and has registered as one of the founding members of the Girls Metropolitan League. Chelsea Piers Connecticut launched the Soccer Club one year after opening. Since then, the program has grown from three teams to 12 teams, ranging from U8 to U15 for both boys and girls. The coaching staff has achieved great success with each of the teams and is excited that the most senior teams are largely made up of players who began their careers at Chelsea Piers four years ago and have grown with the program.

Both clubs will work together in continuing to development the best players in Southern New York and Western Connecticut as well as utilize each other’s' resources. NYSC and CPSC plan to use the affiliation to share coaching education sessions, player development curriculum, and carve a clear pathway for player success within their communities.

NYSC Academy Director Christian Gonzalez said this about the partnership, "Chelsea Piers SC places a priority on player development, style of play, and excellence in coaching which were all important factors for us to establish a working relationship."

Chelsea Piers Connecticut was established in 2012. The Soccer Club is a full service premier soccer club for children ages 6 to 18. CPSC, under the guidance of Susie Starr and David Flower, aims to develop each athlete to his or her potential, on and off the field.
