"My Notorious Life" Author Kate Manning Speaks at Darien Library on Nov. 1

Kate Manning, author of “My Notorious Life,” will be the featured speaker at Darien Library’s Annual Meeting on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. Books will be available for purchase, and a reception and book signing will follow the talk

Manning’s novel about the impoverished daughter of Irish immigrants who becomes a successful (and scandalous) midwife was inspired by the true story of Ann Trow Lohman, a female physician who became one of the most controversial figures in 19th century New York.

Officer elections and new trustee nominations for the 2014-15 year will precede Manning’s talk. The Library invites attendees to learn about the year’s developments from Amy Cholnoky, President of the Board, and Alan Gray, Director of the Library.

The Darien Library is located at 1441 Post Rd. in Darien. For more information, phone (203) 655-1234, or visit darienlibrary.org.
