John Grisham Play in Connecticut Debut

John Grisham's "A Time To Kill," adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes, opens at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny Park on Friday, October 24th.  The Town Players of New Canaan is the first community theatre in the U.S. to produce A "Time To Kill," fresh from its 2013 Broadway run.

A black girl is raped by two drugged-up white racists. The girl’s outraged father executes them in the courthouse, and is tried for murder. Burning crosses and the crack of sniper fire spread through the streets of the small Mississippi town. The nation sits spellbound as young defense attorney Jake Brigance struggles to save his client’s life, and his own. When, if ever, is it a time to kill?

Directed by Julie Bell Petrak, produced by Tom Butterworth, with a set design by Robert Doran.   The cast includes Powerhouse veterans Alexandra Burke, Paul Brown, Phil Hahn, Will Jeffries, Tom Petrone, Frank Speranzo, Richard Stewart and Tom Torpey. Making their Town Players debuts are Tenisi Davis, Amy DeNisco, Eric Dino, Roger Dykeman, Maiysha Jones, Chris Kozlowski, and Julie Thaxter-Gourlay.
