Hunter Arton Joins the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum’s Board of Trustees

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is pleased to announce that Hunter Arton has joined its Board of Trustees. Ms. Arton said “I am honored for the opportunity to serve the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum.  The Museum is a true gem in the heart of Norwalk.  I look forward to helping the museum to further establish its prominence along the West Avenue corridor as it continues to open its beautiful doors to the community and region through preservation activities and educational programs.”

Ms. Arton currently serves the City and residents of Norwalk as the Community Outreach Administrator for the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency.  In this role she has applied for and received over half a million dollars in grant funds for the recovery of Norwalk’s homes from Superstorm Sandy.  Additionally, she supports the administration of the City’s Community Development Block Grant allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  

“We are thrilled that Hunter Arton is joining the Museum’s Board of Trustees,” said LMMM Chairman Patsy Brescia. “Ms Arton’s community outreach and fundraising experience will be of great service to the Mansion and the Board as we continue to build support for this National Historic Landmark.”                     

Ms. Arton believes in giving back to the community and has been a very active and regular volunteer at Person-to-Person in Norwalk and previously at Stamford Hospital.  She recently completed training and joined Wilton’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).  Prior to moving to Connecticut, Ms. Arton was the Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Academic Counseling at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where for nine years she served as the Academic Counselor for the Football and Women’s Golf teams. 

Ms. Arton earned both her Master of Arts in Community Counseling and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University.  She is a member of the Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA) and is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).  Ms. Arton is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and currently resides in Wilton, Connecticut with her husband Michael.

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is a National Historic Landmark located in Norwalk, CT.  It will reopen to visitors on April 8, 2015.
