The Avon Theatre Presents: Stamford: A Small Town Remembers with Q&A

DIRECTED BY: Michael Macari

ABOUT:

Post-film Q&A with filmmaker Michael Macari

From award-winning producer, writer, director Michael Macari, himself a native of Stamford, STAMFORD: A SMALL TOWN REMEMBERS is a production of Stamford-based EVTV in association with the Stamford Historical Society. STAMFORD, chronicles the rise of an agrarian community on the shores of Long Island Sound, through its development as an industrial powerhouse, to the world-class small city it is today.

In Stamford: A Small Town Remembers, Macari teamed up with long-time friend and Stamford Attorney, the late Joseph Richichi to bring to light the testimonies of immigrants and war veterans, to in essence tell the history of their hometown. With the on-camera testimonies of over forty citizens and celebrities and over seventy contributors of home and archival photos, film and materials, Macari and Richichi captured the essence of the now City of Stamford, in nostalgic fashion, for the ages, as told through the eyes of its citizens from the twentieth century.

MICHAEL MACARI is a thirty-year veteran of the television and music industries, making his local theatrical debut with STAMFORD: A SMALL TOWN REMEMBERS. He has written and produced over one thousand TV and video programs and over six hundred live events worldwide. An award-winning writer and producer, Macari and his production company EVTV, formerly EagleVision, Inc., have been awarded over forty national and international awards for documentary, concert and communications programming. He recently wrote, produced and directed UNBREAKABLE: A Story of Hope and Healing in Haiti, a feature-length documentary chronicling the historic, hope-filled aftermath of the devastating earthquake which struck the country in 2010. UNBREAKABLE was named Most Inspirational Global Film at the 2014 Miami International Film Festival, and was featured at the New York Independent Film festival and Portland International Film festivals. Macari’s PBS American Masters documentary JACK PAAR: As I Was Saying, garnered audiences seldom seen on PBS. It remains the highest-rated program in the award-winning PBS series.
