Italian Native and Darien Resident, Antoinette Socci, has passed at 95

Antoinette Socci of Darien, CT died peacefully at the age of 95 on July 3, 2015 in Stamford, CT. She was born in 1920 in Settefrati, Italy to Antonio and Loreta Pellicci. She emigrated with her family from Italy in 1930 and spent most of her life in NYC and Bronx, NY, before moving to Darien 25 years ago.

Prior to working at the Darien YMCA for over 15 years caring for children, for 50 years she worked as a seamstress in NY.

Antoinette’s greatest pleasure was to gather family and friends around a table of delicious food that she enjoyed cooking for everyone. She loved music, the theater, opera, she loved God, and she loved to sing. She gave of herself to others and thought of others before herself. She had a wonderful spirit that will live on forever.

Antoinette was predeceased by her husband, Paolo Socci, in 1981. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lucia Vitti, and two brothers Luzio Pellicci and Guy Pellicci.

She is survived by her children, Cary Socci and wife Maria of Ronkonkoma, NY; daughter Nancy Sweeney and husband, Anthony of Darien; and son Thomas Socci and wife Eileen of Darien. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Paul Socci, Megan Socci of Darien, Cary Socci, Nicole Socci of Ronkonkoma, Grace Ann Sweeney and Justine Sweeney of Darien. Antoinette was also loved and respected by many caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 8th from 3pm to 8pm at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9th  at 11am at the St. John Parish, 1986 Post Road, in Darien, CT. Her entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, NY 10530.

In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for donations made in her memory to the: Darien YMCA, 2420 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 (for their scholarship and special needs programs).
