Haitian Puppies Rescue Complete

I posted about Darien resident Kristina Hess and her friend, who were both on a humanitarian mission in Haiti earlier this year, helping to build an elementary school. During their visit, they were "adopted" by two village orphaned pups. Unable to leave the malnourished pups behind in squalid conditions - Kristina set about raising funds to bring them back to the USA. Following is her update from the pups and how they have adjusted.

"We have been home for nearly two weeks now. We slept for most of the plane ride so we don't remember it! Grass is so soft and we enjoy rolling around in it. Mom takes us to the dog park everyday but sometimes the big dogs scare us. Mom bought us these soft "Thunder shirts" that help us feel less anxious. We are housebroken now, sleeping in a crate, and are learning how to walk on a leash. There are so many fun things to smell that we get distracted or we just want to wrestle with each other. We went to the vet for de-worming and will be going back soon for more vaccinations. Yesterday Mom gave us our first bath but we didn't enjoy that very much. We love to give out kisses, have our bellies rubbed and will be starting puppy obedience classes soon. Thank you for helping to reunite us with our Mom. We are so grateful for our forever home."

Love, Kismet & Moxie

kis·met (kiz-mit). Noun Definition: destiny; fate. When you encounter something by chance that seems like it was meant to be, then it could be kismet, your destiny. The word kismet comes from the Arabic word ḳismat, meaning “division, portion, lot.” You can think of kismet as your lot in life, or your fate.

mox·ie (mäksē) noun Definition: force of character, determination, courage or nerve. (US & Canadian, slang) "when you've got moxie, you need the clothes to match"
