New Canaan Library is pleased to host Philadelphia-based artist Erica Harney, who will present two drawing workshops at the Library in September.
The two-part general drawing workshop will be held on Thursday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 12 at 1 p.m. Part 1 on Thursday will focus on emphasizing the mantra "draw what you see, not what you know." This hour-long drawing workshop will include basic introductory exercises to help one see critically and enhance hand-eye coordination. Part 2 on Saturday part will continue in the same vein, building up to a longer, completed drawing using Library references as source material.
An additional workshop, geared specifically towards older adults, will be held on Friday, September 11 at 1 p.m. This workshop is part of New Canaan Library’s inaugural Seniority Rules series, aimed towards fostering the creative expression, learning, and development of older adults. The one-hour workshop will emphasize exercises to increase seniors’ visual acuity and manual dexterity while drawing from observation.
