Rowayton residents purchase Millstone Farm in Wilton

A Fairfield County Landmark to Remain a Community Treasure

Betsy and Jesse Fink of Wilton, CT are pleased to announce the sale of Millstone Farm to Eliane and Volckert van Reesema of Rowayton, CT.

In ten years of ownership the Finks have turned Millstone Farm into a model for sustainable agriculture that cultivates local, regional and global communities. Through its support of backyard farmers, local farmers and regional food systems, Millstone has evolved into an exemplary working farm. Their focus on affordable, healthy food and growing practices helped start a movement that made farm to table a reality in Fairfield County that is now in high demand.

It was extremely important to the Finks that they find a like-minded buyer to carry on their vision of stewardship, community building and education.

Betsy Fink says, "The van Reesema's share our passion for Millstone Farm and are the perfect people to continue on as stewards of this unique property, giving it a fresh and distinct perspective that will make it theirs."

Jesse Fink continues, "Betsy's inspiration and devotion created a magical place for our family from which the local community has also benefited. The "Millstone Experience" will be forever with us. We would like to thank the community for all their support.”

When the Finks bought Millstone Farm in 2006 there was an existing horse operation which Betsy continued for many years.  However, her real dream was to create a working farm that provided the area with good food and a place to gather and educate young and old about the fundamentals of farming healthy food. With this transition, the van Reesema’s will continue the agricultural activities on the farm, but will also bring back the equine component.

Eliane van Reesema says "The Finks created an extraordinary place and our whole family is looking forward to connecting with the community and adding aspects of our passions and interests that complement the current farming operations."

Fairfield County and surrounding communities will continue to benefit from this amazing community asset and farm team.
