Come Discover An Ancestor at The Darien Library

A Community Family History Event on Saturday, October 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Come Discover An Ancestor (CDAA) is a half-day open-house style event. The event is designed to help individuals and families gain a greater appreciation of how family history can be a fun and captivating experience. You can learn how family history can enhance your life now, help nurture a sense of identity and instill a deeper sense of pride. Participants will explore first hand how learning more about their ancestors can be a fun activity for children of all ages.

The conference will provide through its key note and break out sessions an informal hands-on learning experience as to get started in family history including how to use simple-to-use Internet based tools to research their family tree.

CDAA will feature an opening keynote speaker followed a choice of three different 40 minute workshops on such subjects as how to use social media to connect to your family, how to write a personal history, how to get started in family history research and a special workshop focused on discovering ancestor artifacts online. The event will conclude with closing remarks and refreshments.
