Junior Marine Biologist Course for Ages 10-13 Offered this Fall at The Maritime Aquarium

Young students curious about marine biology can get a hands-on introduction to the career this fall through a series of Saturday programs offered at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

The Maritime Aquarium is taking one of its most popular summer-camp programs – “Junior Marine Biologist” – and offering it as a series of sessions for ages 10-13 that will meet on Saturdays from Oct. 18-Nov. 15.

Highlights will be designing, constructing and maintaining a group aquarium with live animals. Participants also will discover some of the amazing properties of water, use scientific probes to monitor water quality, dissect squid and fish, and peer into microscopes to view the unseen world of Long Island Sound.

Participants sign up for the five-session program; not for individual Saturdays. Each week they should bring to the Norwalk aquarium a lunch, a snack and an excited curiosity about the marine world.  Medical forms are required of each youth.

Cost is $450 ($400 for Maritime Aquarium members). Advance registration is required. The course is limited to 30 participants.

To register a student or for more details, call (203) 852-0700, ext. 2206.
