Andy Garfunkel Joins the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum’s Board of Trustees

The Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum is pleased to announce that Andy Garfunkel has joined its Board of Trustees.  “I am very excited to become a Trustee at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum,” said Mr. Garfunkel, “and look forward to bringing renewed awareness of this city and national treasure to a whole new generation.”

Mr. Garfunkel previously served as Norwalk’s Town Clerk from 2001-2011.  In this role, he received over fifty thousand dollars in State grant funds for the preservation of city records and the acquisition of new technologies for the Town Clerk’s office.  Additionally, he helped manage the preservation of numerous records and archives for the City of Norwalk and partnered with Norwalk Pubic Schools to offer job opportunities and life skills training to young adults through shadowing and actual hands-on work.

“We are thrilled that Andy Garfunkel is joining the Museum’s Board of Trustees,” said LMMM Chairman Patsy Brescia.  “He brings energy and talents that will be of great value to LMMM. Andy will be co-chairing the Victorian Ice Cream Social in June.”

Mr. Garfunkel grew up in a tradition of public service and has volunteered his time and expertise on behalf of the Norwalk community for over a decade. Recently, he was a member of the Norwalk Seaport Association Board of Trustees and active in both the Norwalk Historical Society and the Norwalk Preservation Trust.  Previously, Mr. Garfunkel has served on the Board of Trustees for the Norwalk Senior Center, Congregation Beth-El of Norwalk, CT, and Connecticut Playmakers of Greenwich, Connecticut.

Mr. Garfunkel majored in Theatrical Design at the University of Bridgeport.  He is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and is a Realtor with William Raveis Real Estate. A lifelong resident of Norwalk, Connecticut, Mr. Garfunkel has two grown sons who attended Norwalk Public Schools.

The Museum’s 2015 cultural and educational programs are made possible in part by generous funding from LMMM’s Founding Patrons, the Estate of Mrs. Cynthia Clark Brown; The Museum’s Distinguished Benefactors, Klaff’s  and The Maurice Goodman Foundation.
