Digital Services and Reference Librarians Introduce Enhanced Library Resources to Kiwanis

New Canaan, CT, April 16, 2015—New Canaan Kiwanis recently welcomed New Canaan librarians Alexa Roy, Reference Librarian and Laura Miller, Digital Services Librarian, who presented current and future e-resources, programs, and classes for adults, teens, and children.
Laura explained, “As Digital Services Librarian for the library, my goal is to continue to move into the digital age, while keeping many of our current, most popular programs.” She explained how “teen librarian Lauren Howard is creating a Maker Club, to further expand use of our 3D printer capabilities, and the Digital Services Department will be offering a 6 week class this summer for people to develop hands-on experience in robotics and engineering using technology such as Arduino and Hummingbird.”
Reference Librarian Alexa Roy discussed current and upcoming classes and events (http://newcanaanlibrary.org/pages/programs-events) and research available via their digital library (http://newcanaanlibrary.org/pages/digital-library). “Our objective is to become even more of an asset to busy families, individuals and children by becoming a ’24-hour library,’ she concluded.
