"Larger Than Life" - Works by Rick Shaefer Opens in Leclerc Contemporary Gallery

Leclerc Contemporary Gallery and Isabella Garrucho Fine Art are pleased to announce a new one-man show “Larger Than Life" – Works by Rick Shaefer”. The works presented are part of a series of cloud paintings and large scale charcoal drawings of various flora and fauna—subjects, in the case of the trees, found in close proximity to the artist’s home in Connecticut. The intricate markings that comprise his meticulously rendered, monumental drawings are part of a technique that Shaefer has cultivated within his artistic practice, one that aims to introduce the viewer to new ways of perceiving the drawn line and, ultimately, of considering the greater significance of the subjects of the work. The immediacy of the confrontation with the drawings—their scale and intense detail and unglazed presentation—compel an unencumbered directness to subjects both mundane and exotic. The public is invited to an opening reception on September 10th, from 6-8 PM.

This show is curated by Isabella Garrucho of IGI Fine Art and Gallery Director of Leclerc Contemporary Gallery, founded by antique and design professional Geoffrey Walsky.  Inspired by his great grandfather Julien Jacques Leclerc, an artist in Paris during the 1920s, Leclerc Contemporary was created to provide a venue for established and emerging contemporary artists to exhibit their work and is located at the Fairfield County Antique & Design Center, 19 Willard Rd., Norwalk, CT 06851, just 40 minutes from New York City.
