The Glass House Striking Installation until September 26th

Today I attended the press preview for the Yayoi Kusama: Dots Obsession – Alive, Seeking for Eternal Hope limited installation at the Glass House and it didn't fail to impress. An 'infinity room' experience has been created out of the Glass House, and the normally transparent walls are covered in bright red, signature polka dots. Kusama's team painstakingly applied these over a 2-day period. Kusama, who is 87-years old so didn't travel, ensured that every last dot was meticulously placed according to her designs.

The overall effect is very striking and on a sunny day, such as today the dots threw really interesting shapes across the floor and were reflected. The Glass House bill this as a unique experience of seeing the world through the eyes of both Philip Johnson and Yayoi Kusama simultaneously and you feel that. This will only be available until Monday, September 26th, so don't delay getting your tour booked in.

We were shown around the property by Barbara Al-Haffar, who was an excellent guide. I have been on several tours to the Glass House and each one has been unique because the tour guide is not scripted.

The Yayoi Kusama: Narcissus Garden exhibition, which features 1300 spheres floating on the pond by the Pavilion will run until the end of the season (end of November) There is also the Studio, Da Monsta, Sculpture Gallery, Painting Gallery and Ghost House to explore within the grounds.

This Exhibition has been organized by Irene Shum.
