STATE POLICE CONDUCT SUCCESSFUL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION COLLECTION

The Connecticut State Police announced today the collection of more than 1,000 pounds of prescription medication during a drug take-back day on September 27, 2014.

On Saturday, 1,108 pounds of prescription medication was collected at State Police Troops and other locations throughout Connecticut.

Overall, the Connecticut State Police, municipal police Departments and others collected 4,470 pounds of prescription pills from residents across the state.

“The public was provided safe, convenient locations to responsibly dispose of unwanted or unneeded medication.  We appreciate everyone who participated in this important program. You helped to keep our communities safe,” said Dr. Dora B. Schriro, Commissioner of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.

“Drug addiction remains a serious problem in Connecticut and across the country. By removing the potential for the abuse of prescription medication, we reduce the opportunity to misuse drugs,” noted Commissioner Schriro.
