In January of this year, management of Ring’s End Lumber contacted this agency regarding fraudulent use of a company credit card. After an internal audit, management determined that an employee, who was assigned a company vehicle and gas card, was using the card to fuel his personal vehicles. The audit included comparisons of the fleet service logs for the company’s vehicles and the actual gallons and costs posted to the gas card statements.
The employee, Jeffrey Lacey, age 56, of Buena Vista Rd in Fairfield, charged over $4,000.00 to the card to specifically fuel two of his personal vehicles. The transactions were made at various gas stations throughout the state however numerous charges were made at one particular station within a close proximity to Lacey’s residence. Lacey was captured on video surveillance on several occasions using the card to fuel his personal vehicles. He would later admit to using it for unauthorized vehicles approximately “100 times” over the past year. Lacey has since been terminated by Ring’s End Lumber.
