Vehicle Pulled Over by Police After Firing Weapon in Darien

On November 12th at approximately 4:11 a.m., CT Trooper Carlos Vinhais was dispatched by Troop G to a suspicious incident that took place on I-95 northbound in the area of exit 10, near Darien.

It was reported that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the area of exit 10 and the occupants were reportedly firing a weapon out of the motor vehicle. The vehicle was stopped in Stamford, by Stamford Police. A search of the vehicle uncovered a firearm from inside the vehicle.

The driver was identified by his CT driver's license as Horace Wright of Stamford, CT. The front seat passenger was identified by his Jamaican identification card as Anta Tummings, also of Stamford.

Wright and Tummings were charged in violation of C.G.S. (CT General Statues), unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment in the 1st degree, weapons in a motor vehicle, breach of peace in the second degree and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Wright was also charged with an additional charge in violation of C.G.S. criminal possession of a firearm. 

Wright is being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond and Tummings is being held on a $150,00 cash or surety bond. Both men are scheduled a Stamford Superior Court, today, November 13th.
