Darien PD Respond to Fatal Construction Incident
On April 11, 2016 at 12:51 PM, Darien Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a contractor injured as a result of an apparent fall at a single family residence under construction on Nearwater Lane. Officers responded along with personnel from Darien and Stamford EMS and found an unconscious male at the rear of the residence with visible head trauma. While no other workers or persons on site witnessed the event leading to the injury, it appears the male had fallen from a scaffold directly above the location where the victim was found.
The male was transported to Stamford Hospital by Darien EMS where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to his family. The incident remains under investigation and there is no additional information to be released at this time.
