Merritt Parkway Film @ Westport Library, Thurs. June 6, 2pm

On Thursday, June 6 at 2pm, the Westport Public Library is hosting a presentation of "The Road Taken...The Merritt Parkway", a documentary film by Westport filmmaker Lisa Seidenberg, The 34-minute film, which was made in 2008, features appearances by several Westporters, including author and humorist Alan Abel, art patron Ann Sheffer, former Department of Transportation chief, Emil Frankel and photographer Nate Gibbons.

The film, which was produced with sponsorship from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and the Merritt Parkway Conservancy, has screened in many numerous venues across the state, including the Avon Theater in Stamford and was featured at the Commission's Gallery in Hartford as part of a show titled, "Systems/Fictions".

After producing "The Road Taken...", the filmmaker directed "I Have Seen the Future", a half-hour documentary film on the 1939 New York World's Fair" featuring Westport author Watts Wacker; and "Cold War Film Clips", a compilation work shown at the Westport Historical Society in an exhibit, called 'The Cold War in Our Backyard", also curated by Seidenberg. Her most recent work, "Heresies", was selected for the 63rd "Art of the NorthEast", a highly competitive Juried Show at the Silvermine Guild of Artists in New Canaan, CT, which closed on May 24.

The filmmaker will be introduce the film at the screening, which will be at 2pm in the McManus Room.
