March 14 FCAA Meet to Feature Westport Artist Miggs Burroughs

The Fairfield County Arts Association will meet at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 pm. The highlight will be Westport artist Miggs Burroughs making a presentation titled, "From TIME Covers to T-shirts", about his unconventional career trajectory, from his first assignment doing covers for TIME magazine in 1974, to current work which includes, among other things, lenticular photography and t-shirts for local events.

Burroughs is a full-time graphic artist who has been serving commercial and non-profit clients throughout Fairfield County since 1972. Among his more visible creations are the Westport Town Flag, logos for the Levitt Pavilion, the Westport Historical Society, the Westport YMCA, Project Return, every First Night button, as well as hundreds of shirts for local races and events. Other designs include a U.S. Commemorative Postage Stamp, and four covers for TIME Magazine - one of which hangs in the Smithsonian Institution along with the Easter Egg he designed for the Reagan White House.

From 1984 to 2005, Burroughs produced and hosted "Miggs B on TV", a Cablevision talk show, and he has taught design at both UConn in Stamford and Fairfield University. He is a 1967 graduate of the Carnegie Tech (now Mellon) Drama Department in Pittsburgh.
