Lime Rock Park Celebrates Its 55th Birthday This Year

Heads up race fans! Lime Rock Park is marking its 55th birthday this year. The track opened in April 1957. As such, the number "55" will be all over the place and integrated into its activities. For example...

"55" appears in the Park's special anniversary logo...
 
The track will initiate a “55 Trees – Planting for the Future” effort...
 
And the Park's Friday, May 25 ticket price for the Memorial Day Weekend Trans-Am season opener will be just 55¢...
 
Sugar cookies at the concession stands emblazoned with “55!”
 
Lime Rock is America's most historic road racing track.

For the record, the very first race was March, 25, 1956. The overall win went to Jochen Rindt, driving an Alfa Romeo GTA, an under-2-liter entry, with second overall to Bob Tullius in an over-2-liter Dodge Dart.)
