First Church's Fairfield Day of Service: Sept. 21

First Church Congregational invites you to work with them for a Day of Service, celebrating the Town and the Churchʼs 375th Anniversary, on Sunday, September 21st.

As a servant church, First Church has worked with its Outreach Partners to actively assist them in whatever work--generally physical labor--they need to get done. In past years, one way that this has been accomplished is on a Sunday of Service involving the whole church. This year, First Church is making the event a community-wide Day of Service "celebrating community together" in its 375th Anniversary Year.

Here is how this exciting day will unfold:

9:00am Kick-off Dedication in the parking lot of First Church

10am – 4pm Volunteers will work at a pre-arranged service project

5:30pm Celebration Dinner (BBQ style) & Interfaith Prayer Service

on the Town Green between Sun Tavern & the Museum & History Center

Nearly two dozen projects of various skill levels have been planned for both adults and children. They include painting & doing minor home repairs, cleaning up a local park, rebuilding kayak racks, interior house painting, demo work, installing a brick patio at a Senior housing unit, cooking meals for Operation Hope, and a sing-along at a local convalescent hospital just to name a few.

First Church hopes to involve approximately 250 volunteers in this Town-wide effort to serve where there is need and to then celebrate together at the BBQ/Picnic in the evening.

Signing up to volunteer is easy. Go to www.Fairfield375.com and click on the "News" tab. On the news page you will see a button for Volunteer Spot. Click on the Volunteer Spot button and you will be taken to the sign up area. You will find simple instructions on how to sign up. Signing up will begin on September 2nd.
