A Great Day for Near & Far Aid Golf Classic

SOUTHPORT, CT -- On Monday, September 22, Near & Far Aid hosted their annual Golf Classic charity tournament and welcomed 116 golfers who came to play and support the cause. The event offers an opportunity for sponsors, supporters and executives to raise awareness and funds for the all-volunteer organization dedicated to eliminating the causes and effects of poverty in Fairfield County.

"The Near & Far Aid Golf Classic was a great success this year. With beautiful weather, a stunning course, and a full field of competitive golfers,” said the Golf Classic Co-Chair, Mark Hale. “We accomplished what we set out to do - have a wonderful event for our donors in name of fighting poverty in Fairfield County. We could not be more thrilled with how this turned out," agreed co-chair, Ari Kleinman.

The day started with an outdoor luncheon overlooking the Long Island Sound followed by a noon tee time culminating with a cocktail hour, dinner and silent auction which offered golfers a chance to bid on rounds of golf at exclusive courses along the east coast. “I love this Near & Far event,” said a long-time supporter, Pam Toner. “Year after year, our most loyal come out to enjoy a day of golf at one of Connecticut’s most beautiful courses” she added.

This year’s title sponsor was Fairfield County Bank. “We have been proud to sponsor Near & Far Aid and their wonderful cause for the last few years. Fairfield County Bank is lucky to be the lead sponsor for such a great organization,” said Dan Berta, President Fairfield County Bank.

In addition to Fairfield County Bank, the Near & Far Aid is thankful for the strong support shown by this year’s sponsors and participants. The 2014 presenting sponsors were Crystal & Company, Elizabeth Pfriem, Land Rover Milford, Marks Paneth, the leader sponsor was U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, and the exclusive media sponsor was Westport Magazine, Moffly Media.

Each year Near & Far Aid, provides grants to more than 100 local agencies and ensures that donors’ dollars have a maximum positive impact on thousands of people living in Fairfield County.
