Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Ffld Cty Receives Award

At Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County's Annual Meeting on January 25th, the non-profit received the Malachi Award from Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) for reaching the milestone of giving over $500,000 in contributions to global housing initiatives over the past thirty years.

Natalie Nuce, Resource Development and Communications Manager, Haiti, HFHI, presented the Malachi Award to T. David Short, Habitat CFC's Board Chair.

Each year, Habitat CFC has the opportunity to designate a $25,000 contribution to HFHI to partner on these initiatives. Since the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, we have directed these funds to implementing and supporting sustainable housing change in the Port-au-Prince region where 1.5 million Haitians were displaced into 1,500 camps.

"Thank you for taking part in the life-changing movement of Habitat for Humanity Haiti through your contribution," said Claude Jeudy, National Director, Habitat for Humanity Haiti. "Your recent gift allows us to continue to transform the lives of thousands of Haitian families. I am deeply grateful for your faithful partnership. Having reached our post disaster recovery goals to serve more than 50,000 families affected by the 2010 earthquake, we are now looking ahead to reach even more families with the deepest need. Thank you again for taking part in changing lives and building hope in Haiti."
