"What is the role and future of our women's volunteer organizations in the 21st century?" is the topic that will be explored at Westport Woman's Club on March 18, from noon to 1:30 pm. A brown bag luncheon panel and roundtable discussions will be co-hosted by Westport's two leading women's social philanthropic groups, the Westport Woman’s Club (est. 1907) and Westport Young Woman’s League (est. 1956), which will explore answers in the 44 Imperial Avenue clubhouse they share.
Participants will include WWC and WYWL members, public sector partners, non-profit grant recipients and interested members of the public. Jo Fuchs Luscombe, civic leader and former CT State Representative, will moderate.
To start, WWC president Dorothy E. Curran and WYWL president Nathalie Fonteyne will give brief organizational histories, highlighting major evolutionary milestones in fundraising, public-private partnerships, grant-giving and member demographics in response to changing community needs. Then, each roundtable will address a particular question as to how these changes and larger trends will--or should--impact women's social entrepreneurship and philanthropy today and tomorrow. To close, each roundtable will share its consensus findings with the full audience.
For details, please contact Dorothy E. Curran, WWC president, or Nathalie Fonteyne, WYWL president, at (203) 227-4240 or info@wywl.com.
