ShredFest 8 to Support Pediatric Cancer Research, March 5

Fairfield, CT -- Shred Kids’ Cancer, and Phoebe’s Phriends both non-profits that provide funding for pediatric cancer research, present ShredFest 8 on Saturday March 5, 2016 at the Warehouse at Fairfield Theater Company in Fairfield, CT from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

ShredFest features a Battle of the Bands, with celebrity judges, a silent auction and a very special guest performance and inspirational speech by Charlie Scopoletti. A two-time cancer survivor and singer songwriter, Charlie is proof that musicians have influence that can lead to real impact. He was named Home Town Hero by News 12 CT, and was a 2015 honoree and performer for a night that raised 2.1 million dollars for The One Hundred.

In addition, event organizers will host a VIP section for pediatric cancer patients and their parents. Tickets are $20 if purchased online in advance from the Shred Kids’ Cancer website ( www.shredkidscancer.org ) or $25 at the door. All ages are welcome!

Some of the past judges include Slash, Tom Morello, Dhani Harrison, DJ Lethal, Zakk Wylde and many others.

Shred Kids’ Cancer was founded in 2009 by then 8-year-old Teagan Stedman, when a friend was diagnosed with cancer. The organization is run entirely by young people (with adult guidance) and is dedicated to serving the community by offering kids the opportunity to use their creativity and organizational skills to help their peers who are battling cancer.

About Phoebe’s Phriends:

Phoebe’s Phriends was started by Phoebe Spear, a two-time cancer survivor (Osteosarcoma and Secondary Leukemia) and now at Junior at Staples High School in Westport, CT. After 5 years of treatment and eventual recovery, Phoebe’s life is back to "normal" and she is determined to give back.
