Fairfield, CT -- Your Breast Bet, Inc., a new 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to assisting people who have been affected by breast cancer, will be hosting their first Happy Hour fundraiser this Thursday, April 28, 2016 -- from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. -- at Taberna Restaurant at the Brick Walk in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Thanks to the generosity of Taberna chef/owner, Daniel Lopez, guests will be able to enjoy delicious complimentary tapas, as well as one free glass of house wine or house beer, per person. Additionally, guests will be treated to comedy performed by Howard Feller, of the television programs "30 Rock" and "the original "Jon Stewart Show" oon MTV, and Westport native Bari Alyse, who is well-known to audiences from The Broadway Comedy Club in New York City. This Happy Hour event will also feature a 50/50 raffle as well as the opportunity to win three gift certificates from Massage Envy and two gift certificates to dine at Taberna Restaurant.
Your Breast Bet was founded by Bridgeport resident Jean Wescott, who has worked with breast cancer patients throughout the last ten years, as a dermal pigmentologist. She specializes in artistic 3D areola tattoos, for breast cancer reconstruction patients, and she has seen first-hand many of the financial struggles that people face. She also saw the opportunity to honor the memory of her brother, whom she lost to esophageal cancer, while enriching the lives of others in the community through her organization.
She has worked with over 18 plastic and reconstructive surgeons, in Connecticut, along with doctors in neighboring states. She has also donated her specialized services to people who did not have insurance and/or to those who could not afford her fees.
Wescott, who is working in conjunction with other breast cancer organizations, including PinkAid.org, looks forward to assisting breast cancer patients with everything from referrals to social workers and support groups to providing people with financial assistance. She notes that there are always additional expenses, that patients face, and providing much-needed funds can reduce patients' stress levels and ease healing.
