Op Hope Announces Community Hero Award Honorees

Fairfield, CT - Join Operation Hope as it acknowledges the support and dedication of the surrounding community and Community Hero Award honorees at the 15th Annual Evening of Hope. The event is Operation Hope’s most significant fundraiser and will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016, 6:30pm at The Patterson Club in Fairfield. Cocktails, dinner, music, silent and live auctions and more will all be part of this fun and festive evening designed to raise funds to provide neighbors in need with food, shelter and counseling.

Community Hero Awards will be presented to the following community members who have helped Operation Hope advance its mission through their dedication and support:

The Spollett/Waldman Award – Named after Rev. David Spollett (First Church Congregational) and Rabbi Label Waldman (Congregation Beth El) for their extraordinary vision and courage that led to the birth of Operation Hope. This will be awarded in loving memory of Ellen S. Redgate, long-time Operation Hope volunteer and the first Food Pantry manager.

The Stewart B. and Lucie C. McKinney Award – Named after former Connecticut Congressman and his wife who pushed forward federal legislation that created public policy, critical funding and a voice for those who struggle with homelessness, Harry’s Wine and Liquors co-owners William Miller, Patrick Monteleone and Scott Pollack will be honored for their continued commitment to supporting the community.

The Jacky Durrell Award – Named after the Town of Fairfield's former First Selectman and State Legislator, who helped launch Operation Hope’s shelter and pantry and championed its work to make the community a better place for all. Alexandra Currie, founder of a little square and the Pink Pom-Pom Project, will be recognized for her efforts to help our neighbors in need.
