Op Hope Expresses Thanks for Evening of Hope

Fairfield, CT -- From the desk of Carla Miklos, Executive Director of Operation Hope of Fairfield, comes this letter of thanks for all the people and businesses involved in making its recent "Evening of Hope" a smashing success....

We at Operation Hope of Fairfield wish to express our deepest thanks to the attendees, sponsors and the many local businesses, individuals and volunteers for their support of our 16th Annual Evening of Hope, which took place May 4 at Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield. Because of you, we are able to continue taking care of our neighbors who are without shelter and food in our community, and help them get back on their feet to lead productive lives.

Evening of Hope is an opportunity to celebrate our Community Heroes, named in honor of those who helped give birth to Operation Hope over 30 years ago. This year’s honorees include Michael S. Rosten, Esq., the Fairfield Police Department and Sharon C. Risley. We are blessed to have these Community Heroes’ support and dedication to our shared vision that nobody in our community should be hungry and that everyone in our community should have supportive relationships, hope for the future and a place to call home.

We extend our gratitude to our sponsors for making the event a big success: Diamond Sponsor Alan & Betty Feldman; Ruby Sponsors AvalonBay Communities, Black Rock Church and People’s United Bank; Emerald Sponsors Angel Commercial, LLC, Integrated Print Solutions (IPS) and Elizabeth Steele; Sapphire Sponsors AON, Congregation Beth El, Felner, Corporation, Patriot Bank, Price Financial Group, Re/Max Heritage, Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home and Turner Construction. Many thanks to our generous in-kind sponsors: Abbey Tent & Party Rentals, Ardaso and Henry C. Reid & Son; and to our media sponsor, TownVibe.

The newly reopened Penfield Pavilion provided the perfect backdrop to a festive evening filled with fun, friends and fundraising centered on the theme of “Aloha.” Many thanks to the Roylety Steel Pan Band, DJ Jim Money and caterer Best in Gourmet for transporting us to the islands and turning our event into a celebration.

As an organization that relies heavily on volunteers to fulfill our mission, we are indebted to the many volunteers and employees who helped plan and staff the event. Special thanks to Committee Chair, Darrin Scott Fodor, for leading the charge.

We are truly honored for being part of the Fairfield community for over 30 years. In that time, we have seen many changes. Sadly, one which is the ever-growing need for help with supportive housing and hunger alleviation. We look forward to the day when long-term, chronic homelessness is a thing of the past and we have the infrastructure to quickly meet the needs of people who find themselves facing homelessness. Because of the Annual Evening of Hope, and our other fundraising events throughout the year, we hope to have the ability, the will and the resources to keep moving ahead. With your help, we are determined that homelessness as we know it will become history.
