Rare Book Talk @ Pequot Library, Wed. April 24

Southport, CT -- A former Senior Vice President of Sotheby's Rare Books and Manuscripts Department, Marsha Malinowski, speaks on Wednesday, April 23, from 11:30am - 12:30pm, in Pequot Library's Reading Room. If you want to know more about Pequot's rare and special collection of books and prints, this is the lecture to attend. Hear Marsha Malinowski talk about several of the books and prints selected for the 125th exhibition, Pages from Pequot. This program is free and open to the public.

Malinowski will talk about Thomas Paine's Common Sense, 1776; John Gould's Hummingbirds, 1849; Jack London's White Fang, 1906; and others. She has been a guest appraiser for Antiques Roadshow, and is now the CEO of Marsha Malinowski Fine Books and Manuscripts, LLC. There will be ample time for questions and answers after the talk. With almost three decades of experience, Malinowski's record of acquisitions is unparalleled. From the Magna Carta, to a cache of long lost Vincent Van Gogh letters, to the most important letters by Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Jacqueline Kennedy, Frederic Chopin and René Magritte, Marsha Malinowski has guided institutions, collectors and foundations, in the most significant acquisitions.

Malinowski received her bachelor's degree in French and Latin from Wellesley College and a master's degree in Italian Renaissance History from Brown University. While pursuing her master's degree and preparing for her doctorate at Brown University, she held the positions of Exhibition Coordinator and Consultant at the John Carter Brown Library.

The exhibition of rare books Pages from Pequot: A Selection from the Special Collections in Celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Pequot Library is on display through May 16, 2014 in the Perkin Gallery and rare book cases at Pequot Library.
